Periodontal disease – a general term used to describe gum inflammation caused by plaque or calculus (tartar) - is the most common oral disease in dogs and is also very common is cats.  Keeping your pet’s teeth clean and healthy is key to their overall health.  In general your pet’s teeth should be examined at least once a year during their annual exam so that any issues can be caught and dealt with before they become serious.
